Tastings Wine Bar Opens
Tastings Wine Bar, 335A W. Ponce de Leon Ave., allows customers to try more than 100 wines by the taste, half-glass, and glass. The food menu includes cheese plates, flatbread pizzas, gourmet sandwiches and salads, bistro plates and delicious desserts. The bar offers premium beer and spirits, sparkling wines and flights.

Whit's End Gives Back to the Community
Whit's End, 431 W. Ponce de Leon Ave., donated more than $500 back to the community in its first year of operation in 2007. Owners Jeff Gold and Greg Whitlock say they did this through auction merchandise giveaways, gift certificates, and writing checks through Whit's End Weekends. They have donated $400 so far in 2008 and are well on their way to exceeding 2007. Beneficiaries include churches, schools, health organizations, and several Decatur events.

Cakes & Ale Now Open
Cakes & Ale Restaurant has opened at 254 W. Ponce de Leon Ave. Owners Billy and Kristin Allin are Decatur residents. Billy graduated with honors from California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and worked as a sous-chef at Watershed in Decatur for more than two years under the tutelage of Chef Scott Peacock.
